We are so proud of the EQ3+ line and the opportunity it gives us to offer our customers furnishings, accessories and lighting from iconic brands that we’ve long admired and respected. It’s been particularly exciting to add Mid-Century Modern classics from Herman Miller to our line, which date back to the 1940’s and 50’s, yet continue to be sought after by designers and homeowners around the world.
We think timeless, classic designs like these have a place in every modern home, whether your decorating style is rustic, minimalist or somewhere in between. Below, we’ve compiled 3 tips on how to work them into your interior decor.
Tip No. 1 – Balance It
Balance the visual weight of a handsome piece, like the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, with chunkier upholstered seating. The Leo Sofa and Jenna Sofa both have wider proportions and sit close to the ground, making them a good fit for the heaviness of the lounge’s black leather upholstery and wood frame. Light fixtures in a dark metallic finish – such as black, bronze or grey – and occasional tables in a variety of wood tones will further enhance the masculine vibe.
Tip No. 2 – Soften Up
Soften the hard frame of the Eames Molded Plastic Side Chair with the warmth of a rustic-style table. The Teak Dining Table has a light finish and simple profile that reinforces the side chair’s “leggy” wood dowel base. An airy, “barely there” pendant light fixture will keep the focal point on the room’s furnishings and the outdoor view.
Tip No. 3 – Show Off
Show off the unique design of the Nelson Platform Bench with sleek, minimalist furnishings. The Simple Bed with Panel Headboard plays up the bench’s architectural design, while it’s dark onyx finish picks up on the bench’s dark-toned base. A black and white throw or toss cushion with a free-flowing pattern will add interest and breaks up the rectilinear lines of the furnishings.
